How to Choose the Right Color Corrector

Sep 22, 2026

Color correctors can feel like a mystery — but once you understand what each shade does, picking the right one is surprisingly simple. The key is matching the corrector color to the concern you want to address. Here's your quick guide to all five correctors in our Concealers collection.

What is a color corrector?

A color corrector is applied before your regular concealer or foundation to neutralize unwanted hues on your skin. Because opposite colors on the color wheel cancel each other out, a green corrector quiets redness, an orange one dims blue-toned darkness, and so on. All five of our correctors share the same full-coverage liquid formula — highly pigmented, oil-free, paraben-free, buildable, and suitable for all skin types — so you're just choosing the shade that targets your specific concern.

Lilac Corrector — for yellow or sallow tones

If your skin looks dull, tired, or has a yellowish cast, the Lilac Corrector is your go-to. The purple-based pigment neutralizes yellow undertones and sallowness, brightening your complexion before you apply foundation.

Best for: Canceling out yellow tones and a sallow appearance.

Mint Corrector — for redness and visible capillaries

Redness from blemishes, broken capillaries, or general flushing? The Mint Corrector uses a green pigment to camouflage those red hues so your skin looks calm and even before foundation goes on.

Best for: Camouflaging redness and broken capillaries.

Yellow Corrector — for purple or dark shadows on olive and tan skin

The Yellow Corrector is a great match if you have olive or tan skin and notice purple or darker-toned shadows — whether under the eyes or elsewhere on the face.

Best for: Concealing purple or darker-toned shadows on olive or tan skin.

Perfect Orange Corrector — for darkness and dullness on medium skin

The Perfect Orange Corrector neutralizes darkness, dullness, and blue-toned discoloration. It's ideal for medium skin tones where standard peach correctors may not be pigmented enough.

Best for: Canceling out darkness, dullness, and blue tones on medium skin.

Burnt Orange Corrector — for deep shadows on deeper skin tones

The Burnt Orange Corrector takes it further for deeper skin tones where blue or ashy darkness needs a richer, more pigmented neutralizer.

Best for: Deep skin tones dealing with blue-toned darkness or ashy discoloration.

How to use a corrector

Apply a small amount of corrector to the area of concern, blend lightly with your fingertip or a damp sponge, then layer your regular concealer or foundation over top. Less is more — correctors are highly pigmented, so a thin layer goes a long way.
